ExperienceAs Director of the UW's English Department Writing Center from 2004-2009, I taught a 400-level course in writing and tutoring pedagogy, training all tutors who worked in the writing center to work with writers in all subject areas.
I've also tutored for five years in the UW's English Department Writing Center.
Now an independent tutor, I enjoy meeting new people and helping them get their ideas down in writing they can feel proud of.
I've published twelve works of short fiction and won the Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction. I continue to write and publish today.
HobbiesI've lived in Seattle most of my life, have an eleven-year-old son, and enjoy a lot of outdoor activities such as bicycling and mountain climbing (I've summitted Mount Rainier three times). I also love the arts. I study ballet, enjoy theater, and am fairly knowledgeable about art history and contemporary art. I'm a vegetarian and love animals. My son and I keep three chickens in our Ballard yard: Lottie, Belle, and Alexandra. They not only lay eggs, they're super cute!
