Alex C.
Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Education
I graduated from high school in 2006 as an International Baccalaureate diploma recipient. I began tutoring the year I graduated and continued to help students at University of Wisconsin-Madison as I worked toward my physics degree. After graduating, I started tutoring full time, eventually moving to Seattle and continuing the work I enjoy so much.
Experience
I have been tutoring high school and college students in math and physics for ten years. During this time I've worked with a diverse group of students with many different learning styles. I've tutored students new to math and science as well as those doing more advanced coursework. I very much enjoy tutoring and I find it extremely rewarding to see a student begin to understand and eventually master concepts which had previously seemed incomprehensible. It is a way for me to help others gain a measure of the enjoyment I get from science and math. I have typically done well on standardized tests (2210 on the SAT and completing six advanced IB tests to earn the diploma), but I find other qualities to be much more important in making a good tutor. Being able to adapt to a specific student's learning style, being patient, and having a passion for the material are far more useful skills. All of these I've tried to apply and improve throughout my tutoring experiences. I have a personal website at alextutoring.squarespace.com . On it you can find more information about me and references from a few of my past clients.
