Experience

I attended UW - Parkside to earn a bachelor's degree in biology. I spent four years working in the tutoring center on campus. This is great experience, as I had the opportunity to interact with students of all abilities, majors, and backgrounds. In my second year, I became lead math tutor. This allowed me to get experience teaching the other math tutors in effective learning strategies. I find tutoring a very rewarding pursuit, and my students have given me excellent feedback. I've also seen many students improve their scores under my tutelage. My strongest qualities as a tutor are my empathy and my patience. I always try to put myself in my students' shoes so I can understand where they're coming from and explain concepts in ways I believe they might understand them better. I also persist with the students until they come to a better understanding of the material and feel comfortable with it.
