Experience
I am a personable and receptive teacher who believes in creating a collaborative learning environment with my students. I feel the best learning experience comes from sharing knowledge with my students, and in return, receiving knowledge from them. I believe this stems from my extensive work in teaching English as a second language (ESL) abroad. I spent one year teaching ESL in Huelva, Spain and an additional year teaching ESL near Seoul, South Korea. The experiences I gained during the two years has helped to shape my teaching Philosophy, and taught me the value and necessity of education in modern society. Although I am able to tutor many subjects including History, Spanish, and Geography, my passion lies in tutoring writing and ESL. I completed my undergraduate work at Calvin College in Michigan, with a major in Spanish, and a double minor in History and Writing. In my spare time, you can find me watching or playing sports of nearly any type; however, Ultimate Frisbee is one of my favorites. I also enjoy trivia, writing, politics, and traveling on adventures whenever I have the opportunity.
