Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Education
University of Puget Sound - BA, International Political Economy
Experience
I attended the University of Puget Sound, where I earned my BA in International Political Economy with an interdisciplinary emphasis in Asian Studies. While I studied there, I became a peer advisor, which involved my assisting freshmen students in their academic planning process. After graduating, I've done a great deal of tutoring in various areas, such as math and reading for middle grade students, ESL, and preparing for the GED. I also spent time working in a prison, instructing inmates in college prep writing. I've spent a few years living in India and Southeast Asia, as well. When I tutor, I take a compassionate approach, while focusing on the important details and on efficiency. I encourage the students I tutor to take what they learn for school, and apply it to real-world situations. At the same time, I keep us focused on improving the student's grades. I am able to tutor in a huge variety of subjects, some of which include history, writing, geography, and English at different levels. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the PSAT, SAT, and ACT, among others. When I have free time, I enjoy acrobatic yoga, vegetarian cooking, and biking.
