My tutoring strengths are in math, reading, and writing. I like the logical nature of math, and I enjoy when a student finally understands a concept and has the able to apply it. As far as reading and writing go, they are my favorite subjects to take on with students. My love for these subjects also extends beyond tutoring, as reading and writing are some of my favorite hobbies as well. Writing, in particular, can help shape how a students presents themselves. All subjects--indeed, nearly all facets of life--require writing. The stronger those writings skills are, the more successful that a student will be. My studies focused on philosophy and religion while at Pomona College. While there, I honed and applied some of the core skills of writing, including organization and phrasing and developing sound arguments. When I'm not tutoring, I still love to practice these skills by reading and discussing philosophy, human nature, and religion. I believe that learning is never finished, and that we should all be students for life. I also love to travel, particularly in Southern Asia. Traveling has the ability to really open up the mind to different cultures and ways of looking at the world, something that is very important in our rapidly globalizing world.
