Experience

After four-plus years tutoring reading, writing, and collegiate preparation at the high school level, I have developed a certain familiarity with the ins and outs of standardized testing. I am able to guide students through AP classes, Public Speaking, the SAT, the ACT, and the HSPE. These tests, as well as the entire college application process, can be daunting for many students. Having a guide for whom the process is not new can go a long way toward saving time and excess anxiety. My own process has led me through a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in History from the University of Washington. I am also preparing to start working on a degree in Library and Information Sciences. Being a student gives me something of an advantage in most tutoring sessions, because I have the edge of recent contact with my subject matter. The fact that I have made I through the process lends me credibility with my students and also gives me a better fix on what they need to know.My free time is usually spent running, kayaking, hiking, running marathons, and playing the guitar.
