Experience

I am a professional filmmaker-videographer, who is passionate about working with children with special needs.  I have 10 years of experience working with children and young adults with ASD/related disorders in school settings and privately, teaching them film production and multi-media skills. The skills I teach span the continuum of the filmmaking process, including: preparing a story-board, operating a video camera, manipulating/editing video and still images through the use of photo and video editing programs (e.g. adobe photoshop, premier, after affects), preparing a soundtrack, and sharing the final product with others. I am also available to teach related skills, such as the photoshop program, and various fine-art skills. In additional to my experience as a film/multimedia teacher, I am skilled in dealing with adverse behaviors.  I am a practitioner of the ‘collaborative problem solving’ - an approach toward adverse behaviors developed by Dr. Ross Green (http://www.livesinthebalance.org).  In my professional work as a filmmaker I have also been committed to supporting projects that benefit children’s wellbeing. I have recently released a full-length feature documentary about children with Autism, capturing their struggles and accomplishments in the course of an entire year. The film is named “Am I Broken” (http://www.amibroken.org/filmmakers.html). In addition, I provide ongoing videography services to Sister Schools, a Seattle-based humanitarian non-profit organization that gathers and delivers school supplies to students-in-need in Uganda. I greatly enjoy working with children, and I am fully invested in supporting their positive growth and bright future through meaningful interactions and the development of creativity. I plan to continue teaching multimedia/film skills to students, alongside my film career. I hope that you find my set of skills and background suitable for your needs. I look forward to hearing from you, and further discussing the possibility of working with your son or daughter.
