Experience
I attended Oberlin College where I acquired a degree in creative writing. I have a passion for teaching and the writing process. When working with students, I use a question based approach. This allows for them to find clarity and organization on their own. In turn, they begin to have confidence in their own skills and needn't look at others for the answers. I tutor a number of different subjects. However, I truly enjoy teaching SAT preparation and middle school level mathematics. Many people have asked me "Why do you teach?" Well, the answer to that question is quite simple. I teach because I am fascinated by it. I am fulfilled by teaching. I go to sleep at night knowing I made a difference in the lives of my students. I also enjoy helping others gain a deeper understanding of their thinking patterns. Currently, I work at Goddard College where I mentor and teach students in writing. I also work with ESL students at Goddard. In the past year, I spent a lot of time developing and teaching a curriculum that correlates creative writing, creative improvement, and theater for workshops held at the Velocity Dance Center. I also held the workshop at the Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation. Additionally, I have experience working as a teacher's assistant at Oberlin College. While working as a TA, I spent time tutoring creative writing. When I am not tutoring or teaching, I can be found dancing. I am a performer and enjoy film and theater productions.
