Education

International Theological Institute, Trumau, Austria Master’s degree in Sacred Theology (STM), 2007-2010.  The motto of the school is ad fontem, emphasizing the need for the student to go first to the primary sources, to wrestle with them and not simply to be told “the answer”.   Augustinianum University, Rome, Italy Studied Italian, Latin and Classical Greek 2006—2007 Thomas Aquinas College, Santa Paula, CA Bachelor of Arts degree in the Liberal Arts.  Studied the Great Books of Western Civilization and discussed them in small seminars.  Honed critical thinking and communication skills while discussing difficult problems such as “What is light?”, “What is motion?”, “What is human excellence?” and other such questions in light of the answers given by the greatest minds of history.  Cumulative GPA 3.72.

Experience

Theology and Trivium Teacher, The Montfort Academy, Aug. 2013—June 2014 Taught five different subjects to 10-12th graders: Morality, Creed and Apologetics, Logic, Rhetoric, Introduction to Philosophy.   Math and Latin Teacher, Ridgeview Classical Schools, Aug. 2010—June 2013 Taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Levels 1 and 2 of Latin to students of different ages, ranging from 5th to 12th graders (mostly 8th—10th graders).  US News and World Report ranked Ridgeview Classical Schools' High School as 15th in the country, 4th US charter school, and 4th open-enrollment high school in the nation.   Self Employed English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor, Part time 2006—2008, Full time 2002 Taught Italian children in Rome for a year and an Austrian teenager in Austria for a semester. I also taught adults full time in Oman for a summer in 2002 after earning the CELTA certification to teach ESL. I love teaching. I love it when students really understand things for themselves and are able to articulate what they understand clearly. I have had many students that really seemed to come to love the subject we were studying--especially geometry.

Hobbies

I enjoy all sorts of outdoorsy activities. Hiking is great. Last summer I took my bike to France and biked through France for six weeks. Traveling and learning about new cultures has always been a passion. I've lived in a number of different countries because my father was a diplomat. I enjoy languages and can speak some Italian, French, Spanish, a little bit of Arabic, and little bits of German and Greek.
