Experience

I have enjoyed teaching and working with languages for more than 15 years: - Recently I taught German as a second language to refugees and immigrants in Northern Germany. - I have been teaching Norwegian in adult evening classes since 2008. - I worked with Norwegian-German translastions. - I am a skilled and very accurate proofreader of German texts. I worked for a newspaper, translation companies and primarily for university students. - At the University of Freiburg I worked as a linguistics tutor in 2006. - I tutored German high school students for many years in different subjects, mainly English and German. - As a speech and language therapist I am used to recognizing individual needs in learning and adapting my teaching to all levels. I am also experienced in working with people with disabilities.

Hobbies

I moved to Seattle in September 2015 because my husband, a mechanical engineer, transferred to the Seattle office of his company. We have a 2 year old son who knows how to keep me busy. Family life does not leave much time for hobbies but I try to stay fit in a local gym. Sport has been an important part of my life for about 20 years. I used to play volleyball and badminton and do jiu-jitsu. Music (mainly playing the accordion), reading and watching series and documentaries are other free time activities I enjoy. I absolutely love learning languages and also learning about language. Among the languages I have learned are Latin, English, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Old Norse, Turkish and Russian. I look forward to working with you and / or your children to pass on some of my enthusiasm for languages - the success in learning will follow.
