Education
A native of Venezuela, Javier has been involved with music since an early age. He began to play the flute in the world-renowned music project "El Sistema", in which he gained important experience in some of their youth symphony orchestras. Later, he was a member of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and pursued a Bachelor of music in flute performance at the IUDEM, in Caracas. Javier continued his flute studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he obtained his Master and Doctorate degrees in Flute Performance, respectively.
Experience
Since 2007 to 2016 Javier resided in his native Venezuela, where he worked for El Sistema as flute teacher and woodwind instructor. He also founded The National Flute Association of Venezuela and served as its executive director and as editor-in-chief of the first Venezuelan flute magazine Aibú. Javier has been a professor at Doane College (Crete, Nebraska) and The Simón Bolívar University of Caracas, among other institutions. He has taught masterclases in Santa Fe, Argentina, with the Hixson-Lied Foundation’s support, and in recent years, through El Sistema, he has been invited to teach in Jamaica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Uruguay, Brasil, and El Salvador. As a performer, he is a founding member of the National Flute Orchestra of Venezuela, the ensemble Pabellón sin Baranda, and a duet with guitarist Pedro Andrés Pérez.

Hobbies
I like teaching people of all ages. Besides Classical, I also can teach you Latin music, some improvisation, and help to create your own music in many styles. I look for the best way for the student to achieve results as soon as posible and I also explore the student's creativity to design effective and fun practising sessions.
