Experience
I have worked as a math and computing tutor for several years. In fact, I began my tutoring in college, and I have taught courses as part of my jobs in many companies. I really love teaching and working with students one-on-one. A good tutor can guide a student in the right direction and save the student hours of frustration and days searching online. I specialize in computing topics including Web Design, C, C++, Java, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript., and in math topics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and SAT and ACT Math. I explain concepts in everyday language, but I also include the necessary mathematical terminology. My first and most important objective is to ensure that students are able to work problems and apply reasoning skills on their own, to find solutions. It is very important to me that my students do well on homework and exams. I approach mathematics with applications in mind. I have a B.S. in physics from CalTech, and a Ph.D. In Informatics from UCSF. I have worked in medicine, pharmacology, aerospace, healthcare computing, 3D visualization, and analysis.I have worked with students enrolled in a variety of programs including nursing, informatics, engineering, business, and finance. I have also worked with many high school students over the years. I hope soon to work with you!
