Experience
I've three years of experience as an educator, and I've learned that there are two different kinds of teachers in the world. The first kind of teacher focuses on challenging students and making them believe that difficult subjects are attainable. The second kind of teacher focuses on providing explanations of concepts that are clear and easier to understand to help students fully understand a subject. When I work with students, I prioritize this second kind of teaching. I spent 20 years teaching statistics and economics at the college level. I then took a position with the U.S. Treasury, assisting research scientists and helping them publish their work. I retired a few years ago, but I still enjoy helping students learn new things. I enjoy tutoring because I can focus on students individually and adjust to their needs and questions. I can tailor my approach to the way students learn best as well. I'm comfortable tutoring subjects like economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, business, accounting, managerial accounting, statistics, algebra, calculus, and related courses. When I have some more time in my life, I like to get out and ski as much is possible during the wintertime, go on hikes, ride my bike, and go out on the sailboat on nice days.
