I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies. I have served as a volunteer tutor and teacher with extensive experience in helping elementary school students increase their reading level. I am proud of the progress my students made, and the experience taught me a lot about the different ways individual students learn and retain information. I have also served as a reading and writing tutor for high school and college students, and have worked as an editor. I can also help students prepare for standardized tests like the ACT and SSAT. Though I am able to tutor students in a diverse range of ages, I am most passionate about tutoring younger students with their reading and helping older students appreciate literature. I believe that a love for the written word is vital to academic success, so helping students discover their own passion for English is incredibly rewarding. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, crafting, knitting, taking walks, spending time with my pets, and practicing yoga.
