Experience

I have 5+ years of tutoring and teaching experience, mostly on college campuses, but also with middle school, high school, and military academy students. I have the most experience tutoring pre-calculus, calculus, and elementary college physics. I have worked with groups and individuals at free drop-in and appointment-based tutoring centers, I have facilitated problem solving workshops and exam reviews as a teaching assistant, and I have been a free-lance tutor. I have work mostly with high school and college students, but also middle school students, graduate students, and military academy students. Many of the students I have worked with are diverse in language, nationality, age, ethnicity, religion, and socio-economic status. As much as I love math and physics, my true passion is people and relationships. I love the challenge of tutoring because it allows me to engage with the rich diversity of learning styles that people have. As your tutor, I will not give you the answer or hold your hand through each homework problem, but I will provide appropriate scaffolding for you to master the concepts and be able to stand on your own. After all, I won't be there when you take your exams. I am a very warm and friendly person, but I am not afraid to push you to challenge yourself. Believe me, you'll thank me later.
