Madeleine A.
Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Education
I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Middle East studies at the University of Washington (Sept 28, 2009- June 2011) I received my B.A. in Near Eastern Lang. and Civ. from the University of Washington with a 3.6 GPA
Experience
I gained valuable skills and experience with tutoring through the Inner Pipeline Project at the University of Washington where I worked as a tutor in Seattle Public schools for two quarters (6 months). During that time, I also attended weekly seminars focuses on educational issues in the classroom and I studied learn skills/styles, ways to relate to students as a tutor, and other tutoring skills. I am particularly drawn to working with ESL students, and was able to spend a great deal of my tutoring hours working with English language learners. I will always remember the day a tutor taught me to read, after I had struggled for so long, and lagged behind in school. That tutor gave me the confidence to succeed and it is that gift that I hope to give to the students I work with as a tutor. I find tutoring very rewarding.
