ESL is the only subject that I tutor because it is my passion to help people build confidence in every aspect of their use of the English language. For the student to succeed and enjoy learning, the curriculum must be tailored to his or her daily life and goals. For this reason, I am a firm believer in spending the time upfront to understand the real-life situations that the student faces and any educational or career goals that can be accelerated through a better grasp of English. Since earning my 100-hour TESOL certificate, I have provided classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring to students who have recently arrived in the U.S. and who want to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. I have also tutored small groups of high school students from abroad who are in this country to learn more about its culture and to prepare for applying to U.S. universities. No matter what the setting, whenever possible I link learning to the student’s personal interests, to make the educational experience more rewarding. In addition to focusing on Intermediate and Advanced ESL students, I tutor those who wish to improve their Business English. My qualifications for teaching best practices in business communications include a Wharton MBA and over twenty years as a management consultant and telecommunications industry executive.
