To me learning is something one must pursue their entire lives. I've tutored in everything from English, reading, essay writing, and grammar and elementary and middle school math to chemistry and cell and molecular biology. I have worked with youngsters and adults. Physiology, algebra, and ISEE test prep are other areas I can be of beneficial help with to students in various grade levels.My style of tutoring is distinctly interactive and includes asking the student many questions. I use various analogies to make important points. The methods I employ assure me that the student completely understands the material before we move on to a subsequent or more advanced topic. I frequently check in to be sure my approach is compatible with the learning methods the student is most comfortable with. If not, I can always switch focus and try a new strategy. Developing a foundation, and building on that, is by far the most important part of learning.I recently graduated from UC Davis with a PhD in Physiology and now live in Seattle, Washington. When I am not immersed in educating or being educated, I spend quality downtime reading, watching football, rock climbing, and doing yoga.
