Lewis & Clark College - B.A., Philosophy
Experience
I attended Lewis and Clark College for my bachelor's degree in philosophy. I also earned a minor in economics. I love helping students learn, and my primary tutoring subjects are algebra, micro and macroeconomics, and writing. I was a writing tutor for two years in college, and I really enjoyed this experience. I help students to better understand grammar, structure paragraphs, outline papers, and come up with topics on the path to becoming better writers. When tutoring students in economics, I help them understand concepts like monopolies, taxation, supply and demand, deadweight loss, and inelasticity. I believe my background in economics and philosophy has given me excellent skills in how to think about the world. When I work with students, I get along with them well due to my inherent friendliness and willingness to connect. When I have free time, I like reading, spending time outdoors on a hike or in the kayak, volunteering for various good causes, and spending time with friends. I'm looking forward to pursuing a career in education. I really like teaching others, and I think education is extremely important for society as a whole.
