Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Quinnipiac University - BA, Psychology , Hunter College - MS, Childhood Special Education
Education is my passion and focus, especially teaching reading and comprehension. Shortly after I graduated from Hunter College with a master's degree in childhood special education, I taught at a private school in Harlem. My primary responsibility here was assisting kids with learning disabilities and behavioral issues. Soon after that, I was employed by the New York City Education Department as an itinerant teacher. I worked with students on a one-on-one basis in order to help them achieve their educational goals. My methods for teaching reading are effective in helping my students improve comprehension, decoding, and speed. What makes me an effective tutor is my ability to accommodate my methods to meet the individual needs of the student. Not every student will learn the same; that is why I first assess the needs of the student in order to create a custom educational plan. I believe there is no such thing as a dumb question. I maintain patience and professionalism when working with each and every student. My areas of expertise as a tutor include elementary math, reading, phonics, ISEE prep, SSAT prep, special education, general test prep, and English.Currently, I reside in Seattle. During my free time, I may be found exploring a mountain trail, reading a good book, playing piano, or strumming my guitar.
