Private tutor in Seattle, WA
University of Washington - BA, Anthropology and Comparative History of Ideas
Hi, I'm Jixia. I am available to help in high school and college-level writing, reading, and social sciences. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Comparative History of Ideas. As I was earning my degree, I was a tutor for the University of Washington's largest interdisciplinary writing center. My experience includes tutoring a broad range of students, from senior high to college students working on their Ph.D. thesis. About sixty percent of my clients at the writing center were ESL/ELL students. I enjoy assisting my students in finding their voice through writing. Each writer knows their writing better than anyone else. My job is to listen, find the central theme of the piece, and offer some tips and tricks so my students leave my care with confidence that will allow them to prepare better for future endeavors. My tutoring style involves giving my students a sense of empowerment and engaging them in the learning process. When I am not tutoring, you can find me at poetry slams or open mic nights, reading sci-fi and fantasy, reading and writing poetry, volunteering, and indulging in a little dungeons and dragons.
