Experience

I completed my bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Washington. I aspire to work in the biostatistics field, and at present, I tutor mathematics at a private school. I am comfortable working with students ranging from middle schoolers to college students, and can tutor all levels of algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, chemistry, and other science topics. However, I most enjoy tutoring students in algebra and geometry. I enjoy discovering each student's preferred learning methods, individual challenges, and academic goals so that I can prepare a custom tutoring plan especially for him or her. I will work with the student from his or her own materials, but can also provide several different learning tools to enhance the student's understanding of the subjects at hand. I encourage my students to practice every day, but also want students to understand--not just memorize--the concepts. As a tutor, I am patient, creative, and empathetic. I encourage independent thinking, as this helps students learn to think critically and engage with the subject. I am a passionate educator and I enjoy helping students achieve their academic goals. In my free time, I like to draw, play piano, and have recently taken up kickboxing.
