Ashley B.
Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Education
MM Vocal Performance- University of Washington, Seattle - GPA 3.89 BA Music and English Writing *magna cum laude* - Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN
Experience
I started tutoring while I was still in undergrad when I got a job at the campus writing center. There I worked with fellow students to help improve their academic papers, focusing on content, grammar, organization and flow, etc. At the same time, I worked as a music theory tutor in the music department. When I first moved to Seattle, I taught an SAT/ACT test prep course at a Bellevue learning center. I enjoy tutoring, and I love helping students reach their full potential. I try to facilitate learning by guiding the student to find the right answers for themselves. I will only ever tell the student the right answer if I think having the answer in front of him/her will help him/her understand the problem. Additionally, I am a voice teacher, and I teach voice lessons for private students in my home. I take a pedagogical approach to lessons, making sure that the singing is functional and healthy, and then layering on artistry. I teach both classical and Broadway styles.

Hobbies
Though I wouldn't call myself athletic, I enjoy watching football and soccer, and I am currently training for my first 10k. I am an avid reader, and I try not to stick to a single genre. I most enjoy reading fantasy fiction, particularly the works of Neil Gaiman, but I am currently working through Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment."
