Experience
I have just finished working as a student teacher for the last three months and should soon have my teaching certificate, and I'm so excited about it! I worked at Foster High School, where I taught Pre-AP Biology, AP-Biology, and Anatomy. On top of learning so much about teaching, I also worked in with a very diverse student population very successfully. My other experiences/qualifications include: -Studied psychology and biology at Seattle University, with a heavy focus on neuroscience -Volunteered and tutored for two years at Washington Middle School, Aki Kurose Middle School, and Garfield High School. Mostly tutored in math, but sometimes other subjects -33 ACT Score -Received my IB diploma in 2009

Hobbies
I have always loved psychology and biology, and have a particular interest in neuroscience. In particular, I love to connect them to the real world, and often find that doing so can spark interest in people who previously had none in the topics. My love of psychology and biology has led to my teaching/tutoring style of trying many different ways of learning until the person finds what works for them. Everyone learns differently, and not everyone finds the way they learn best easily. I really like to talk with students about their learning, and lead them to a style of study that works best for them. I am pretty good at reading people, and working with them in the way they are most comfortable with. I have no problems tweaking my interactions until everything fits. Outside of teaching/science, I'm still a pretty big nerd. I know my way around the internet, often catching my students off guard with how many websites and apps I know about when they talk about them. I do know what yahoo answers is and am fully ready to tell students it is not their friend, haha. I also enjoy movies and comic books.
