Summer Medical and Dental Educational Program: Summer 2012 • Six weeks of intense course work, clinical rotations, case study discussions, learning skills seminar, and addressing social determinants of health. Grant writing for Bio-SCI: Bioscience Communication Initiative: Winter 2013 • Worked on writing a grant with Dr. Jeannie Chowning Bio-SCI: Bioscience Communication Initiative, and our goal is to use some of the bioethics discussion strategies that we use in our bioethics lessons to help scientists and the public talk to each about complex science topics like genetic testing. Biology 118 Peer TA: Spring 2013 • As a peer TA I hold office hours two times a week for my students. Create study guides, as well as review sessions once a week for exam practice. Oregon Health Science University Summer Equity Research: Summer 2013 • Undergraduate research assistant in the Pharmacology and Physiology department working with Dr. Xiao. The overall goal of the research project is to identify a membrane receptor for Estradiol (E2) to study breast cancer. Computational Neuroscience Research Lab: Summer 2014-Winter 2015 • Worked with PI Dr. Eric Shea-Brown and graduate students to model the pre-botzinger complex involved in respiration via Matlab. Included in the model are the following; Neuronal Threshold, spontaneous firing rate, Percent inhibitory neurons, excitatory neurons, sparse connectivity, bursting behavior, Co-variance of populations of neurons. Phenotypic analysis of abnormal feeding behavior observed in C-elegans: Fall 2014-Spring 2015 • The project I worked on is analyzing the phenotypic behavior, and genotypic screening of a mutant strain of C-elegans Yak71 with Dr. Michael Ailion of the Biochemistry Department. I have had tremendous experience with tutoring and teaching, I love seeing others understand, and appreciate science the way I do now.
