Private tutor in Seattle, WA

Education

Interlake High School AP/IB Program - Bellevue, WA Senior Microbiology Major at University of Washington - Seattle, WA I have much more experience in chemistry than my degree required because I find chemistry to be fascinating.

Experience

I am excited to tutor because I am constantly helping my classmates understand new and frustrating concepts, and I very much enjoy to do so. I truly believe that the foundation of understanding biology and chemistry as subjects is visualizing the problem. The reason why biology and chemistry are such challenging subjects is because very little of it is tangible. I have been successful in the topics I study because I taught myself how to visualize chemical and biological processes. -2 years of AP/IB Biology HL at Interlake High School. -Completion of University Series include: General Chemistry Series, General Organic Chemistry Series, Biochemistry Series. -Other relevant classes include: Fundamentals of Microbiology, Bacterial Genetics, Molecular Biology of Viruses. -Relevant Lab Classes include: Bacterial Genetics Techniques, Organic Chemistry Techniques, General Biology Laboratory Techniques, General Chemistry Laboratory Techniques. I am currently an undergraduate researcher in Prof. Doty lab at UW. I work with competitive/symbiotic interactions of plant microbes.

Hobbies

I feel like I am an easy person to get along with. To best describe my interactions with people, I believe that I am charismatic and patient. I think that allows me to work well with others in a teaching capacity. It is pretty difficult to describe yourself while staying humble but I think you would agree if you met me. I am a native of the City of Seattle. I love to travel. I am always saving money for a new adventure so I go on walks around the city for entertainment. I love to cook, I just stopped eating meat so my girlfriend and I have put our energy into inventing satiable recipes. I love music, both playing and listening. I can play the guitar, but I am not very good so I usually just play the same handful of songs I know. I love science, and I largely understand the frustration of learning it. I much prefer learning on Wikipedia than being tested on a subject. I think sparking the excitement of science is best done outside of a school environment. Tutoring is a great outlet to help others get excited about the possibilities of science. Fascination is a strong key to success in any subject.
