Private tutor in Seattle, WA
University of Illinois - BS, BA, respectively, Biological Sciences, Psychology , National Louis University - MAT, Secondary Science Education
I gained my teaching education through Chicago's Teach for America Program. Before that, I earned my degrees in psychology and biological sciences. Once my schooling was completed, I taught for Chicago Public Schools for 6 years. My focus was on high school grade levels. I not only taught biology, but other science subjects as well, such as physics, neurosciences, AP physics, and environmental science. I appreciated the experience and what teaching taught me, but realized I wanted to accomplish other things. I am now back in school attempting to study public policy in Washington. While in school, I am still teaching students by offering my tutoring skills. I have tutored since I was in high school, and it is something I hope to continue for some time. I have worked with various age levels, from elementary school children to high school students. I most often work with high school ages, tutoring them in biology, physics, anatomy, chemistry, and various science subjects. I sometimes assist with study skills, homework support, and even college essays and writing. Puzzles are a favorite of mine, so math and science are my favorite subjects to teach. I work with students to problem solve and get them to understand the content by applying their own thinking.
