Experience

In college, I participated in study groups and informally helped my classmates with writing, but got to formally tutor a student in chemistry during my senior year. I then realized not only how much I valued the process of teaching but actually enjoyed it. The chance to help someone else with their own path to learning was a positive experience for me. I now tutor in ACT and SAT preparation in any subject, although my personal favorites are the English, reading, and writing portions. In addition, I tutor college students in another of my interests, ecology. I studied the subject while working towards my biology degree at Iowa State University.Passionate about learning, I have an interest in sharing this passion with others. Everyone learns in their own way, but with the right methods, it's possible to be a good learner. I think that finding out the ways you learn best helps to accomplish anything. Now living in Seattle, I am experiencing life in the big city and exploring careers in my subject area. I enjoy taking long hikes through the woods. Reading fiction and nonfiction and cooking are also interests of mine, while I also enjoy geocaching.
