Education

I have a BA in English from Pacific Lutheran University and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Montana.

Experience

I taught for the past three years in Seattle private schools in the humanities. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle school and high school students in essay writing, reading comprehension, creative writing, book reports etc, as well as years working with students in after school and summer camp programs. I have also taught several courses at the college level. I am currently in the process of attaining my WA state teaching certificate. I'm an experienced distance learning educator, with plenty of experience on Zoom and on other online platforms. I am a firm believer that every student has a story to tell and believe that by engaging students with their story, they can discover the joy of learning.

Hobbies

I read a wide range of fiction, from graphic novels to Russian literature. I write fiction and essays, as well as music and book reviews, and have been widely published in music and literary journals. Beyond writing, my major passion is live music. I am an avid cyclist, social justice advocate and I also play ultimate frisbee. My wife and I have a young son, who also loves reading, or at least turning the board book pages.
