Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Education
I graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor's Degree in 2012. I studied Psychology and Music, and I earned a GPA of 3.75. I have been playing music for 9 years with extensive performance experience. I can play in the styles of Rock, Punk, Funk, Blues, Old-time, Jazz & Afro-Cuban. In my time at Tufts I studied with some of the Boston-Area's best musician's, including Berklee School of Music faculty Nando Michelin (piano), Fernando Huergo (bass), and John Lockwood (bass).
Experience
I have been tutoring on bass guitar for 4 years now. I am passionate about playing music, and I am eager to share this passion with my students. My teaching method is comprehensive, starting with the basics of rhythm and timing. From there I move on to the basics of notes and chords and I give students warm-ups and training exercises to practice. Learning any instrument can be boring/painful if it is not satisfying and fun, so I find it is best to focus on whatever styles of music the student enjoys listening to. I can also teach students to read/write music if s/he desires

Hobbies
My hobbies include reading, bicycling, playing tennis, and, of course, playing music. I find that playing music satisfies my intellectual side, resonates with my soul, and is a great way to have fun with friends. My demeanor is laid back but disciplined, and I think music should be fun. If you are not having fun when you're playing music, you're doing it wrong or for the wrong reasons.
