Experience
My name's Matt, and I'm an aspiring educator recently transplanted from Vermont. I've been offering writing support since high school, and after I graduated with a degree in Professional Writing I began pursuing a career in education. I've offered writing support in a variety of contexts, from one-on-one tutoring to large group workshops and for students in middle school through college. I've volunteered in middle and high school English and Language Arts classes, facilitated creative writing and essay-writing workshops for high school and college students, and volunteered as a mentor for a number of youth creative writing organizations. I also spent the last year as an AmeriCorps member for a project-based learning program in Vermont, where I spent much of my time offering one-on-one support for writing projects of all kinds. On top of that, I also helped students develop learning habits that would let them succeed across disciplines. I recently moved to Seattle to look for work in education nonprofits and explore grad school options. I love working with kids, and I'm excited to find opportunities to get involved with the education community out here.

Hobbies
My biggest interest is in spoken word poetry, and one of the reasons I moved out here to Seattle was to get involved with the local slam poetry scene. When I'm not doing that, I'm usually playing Ultimate Frisbee, playing board games, or spending too much time thinking about dogs.
