Experience
In the past, I have tutored students in writing and in ESL, as well as in beginning Spanish. My SAT verbal score was 710, and my SAT math score was 770. I want to be a tutor because it's fun! I have a calm demeanor and an intuitive sense of how to explain difficult concepts in ways that are easy to understand. Financially, I am looking to fill my schedule with a little bit of extra income while I'm in school getting my master's degree. I was formerly certified to teach English as a second language; although it has lapsed, I retain a strong sense of grammar, as well as an eye for good, clean, prose. I live and breathe in the English language, and I believe that mastery of it is the foundation for a good education.

Among my loves are basketball, rap music, hiking, biking, movies, and books - and for that matter, ideas in general. I am fascinated by the world we live in, its history, and the wide range of ideas and opportunities contained within it. I have an enthusiasm for learning which I have found is infectious. I am an optimist, and I teach with energy and with unflagging encouragement and support. I believe that communication is what makes humanity great, and I strive to be the best communicator I can be. That means being attentive to the unique communication style of the person I'm working with. I know that learning is so much easier with interpersonal connection, so it is a hallmark of my tutoring method.
