Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Knox College - Bachelors, Spanish Literature
I have a certification in corporate English training specialization, and have worked with students of many ages and backgrounds. I was a swimming instructor for several years for children and adults. At Carl Sandburg College, I was a teacher's assistant for two years. After college, I assisted in the adult education department at the College of Lake County for two years. In this role, I assisted adult learners with the English language, and helped them get their GED. At a local high school, I substituted for Spanish classes during the original teacher's maternity leave. Later, when she had another child, the school district requested my return, and I was happy to teach the class again. I have also taught business English in Madrid, Spain. My major at Knox College in Galesburg, IL, was Spanish literature, with minors in religious studies and anthropology & sociology. I have taken classes in teaching English as a second language (TESOL). I enjoy teaching Spanish and English, as well as other subjects (test prep for exams like the ACT, reading, writing, essay editing, social sciences, and cultural anthropology). Outside of teaching, I enjoy swimming, cooking, gardening, and training my dog.
