Private tutor in Seattle, WA
Stockholm University - Bachelors, Physical Chemistry , University of Stockholm - PhD, Physical Chemistry
I received a Physical Chemistry PhD in Sweden in 1999. Although my studies were concentrated on nuclear magnetic resonance, I also studied math, computer programming, and physics. One thing that is different in Sweden from the United States, is that a PhD program takes five years to complete and approximately twenty percent of the program must be spent teaching. I found enjoyment in the teaching portion of the program. After completing the PhD program, I traveled to the United States to pursue my post-doctoral research, and I have remained at the University of Washington. Some of my favorite tutoring subjects are in computer programming and mathematical theory as it relates to physics and chemistry. As a tutor, I am very patient and strive to provide an environment that prompts curiosity and engages the student because I think those are important in the learning process. I believe that learning new things takes time and shouldn't be rushed so I give students plenty of time to grasp the topics. I like to stay active in my free time by hiking in the mountains or playing tennis and squash. I also have a knack for the guitar and have been in a few different bands.
