Throughout my formative years, I have had the fortune of attending schools where I was afforded a great deal of individual attention by caring and adaptable teachers and mentors. For me, the most memorable teachers have been those who not only pose challenging questions and elucidate challenging concepts, but also help to instill/provoke enthusiasm for the subject. I enjoy tutoring because, in addition to my success in academic environments, I trust in my ability to elicit enthusiasm from those I interact with. In primary and secondary school, it is easy to perceive an opposition between school and life, work and play. I believe that all aspects of life can be enriched with the dissolution of this false dichotomy. I view school as just one (crucial) element of education and believe in the merits of integrative approaches to tutoring and learning, drawing from academic tradition, pop culture and the student's personal interests.
