I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in English and Journalism, and hold an M.A. in Psychology (gpa 4.0), both from Seattle University. My masters program involved much academic reading and writing about psychology, literature and philosophy.

Experience

Helping others express themselves through writing and speaking is my passion. I've tutored high school, undergraduate and graduate students. I taught writing at Seattle University, U.W. School of Social Work, U.W. School of Communications, and Cornish College of the Arts. I enjoy getting to know people and helping them reach their goals. I'm extremely patient and able to tailor lessons to the individual. I've been a counselor, so I know how to listen to and connect with people one-on-one. I'm an accomplished professional writer, having won a "Best Book of 2015" award from Kirkus Reviews. My book has been an Elliott Bay Books bestseller and holds a 98% four-and-five star rating on Amazon. I also won 8 Emmy Awards for scriptwriting and producing as head writer for the KING-TV show "Almost Live." I've written journalism and op-ed pieces for the Seattle Times. I've given workshops and public presentations for Four Seasons Hotels in Hawaii, for Swedish Medical Center at the downtown Seattle Sheraton, and at a retreat center in Malibu, California, to name a few.

I've written professionally, but also enjoy leisure-time writing, reading and discussing literature and the arts. I am a big music fan and have widely eclectic tastes. I play a bit of guitar and piano and have great admiration for "real musicians." I enjoy walking, swimming, exercise and keeping fit. I was born and raised in Seattle and have seen the city go through lots of changes. I still love city life!
