Experience

I believe that the key to becoming proficient in math is to build a strong base through practice and immersion in the subject. The process is not always evident in the beginning, but with a practical approach and time given to the subject, it becomes easier. I found that my passion in math grew out of realizing the real world applications of the subject. Prior to attending college, I worked in construction and found that understanding mathematical concepts made my job easier. I was able to calculate projects like stairs with ease because of the math skills I possess. I have taken these experiences and applied them to my college degree goals. I am a junior at the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. I am pursuing a degree in structural engineering. Math and science are the two subjects that I am most comfortable tutoring in. I specialize in algebra, trig, and calc. I believe that I can provide the connection to the material that a student needs in order to excel and truly understand the concepts. I have built relationships with my peers at school, which has taught me how to best work in one-to-one learning environments that are productive to learning the material. I enjoy watching football, hiking, running, and playing softball.
