Experience

I graduated from the University of Washington in 2016, and until recently I was a software engineer in Redmond. I am now applying for graduate schools, and working as a part time math tutor in order to make time for the applications. Teaching has been a passion of mine for years. It is a wonderful way to make a difference in another person's academics while strengthening my own foundation. And since I'm intending to pursue mathematics, a strong foundation is exactly what I need right now. Best in Class Education, Seattle, Math Instructor (March 2017 to Present): • Conduct extracurricular math classes for 4 to 6 students ranging from preschool to 8th grade. • Students are often at different skill levels and instruction is often one on one, rotating around the room for 75 minutes. University of Washington, Seattle, Computer Science TA (September 2014 to August 2015): • Led a weekly quiz section for UW's introductory Java programming courses (CSE 142, 143). • Graded assignments for all students in my section and aided in exam grading. Tacoma Community College, Tacoma, Math Tutor (October 2011 to August 2012): • Tutored students on a drop-in basis, for 5 to 25 minutes. • The math center focused on supporting students in Algebra, Geometry, PreCalculus, and Calculus. GRE - Math: 170, Reading: 164 SAT - Math: 720, Reading: 650

Hobbies

I have been a swing dancer for 5+ years, and just recently started learning to tap dance. I also have a lot of interest in early jazz because of the dancing, and try to support the local jazz scene when I can. I am an avid fantasy and science fiction fan, often reading, watching, or playing anything related to the genres. Finally, I am a huge fan of science non-fiction, keeping up to date on developments in physics and astronomy whenever possible.
