Experience
I worked as a Math tutor at the University of Washington's Instructional Center when I was a student. After graduating, I worked at Boeing and was the youngest employee ever chosen to be trained as Designated Engineering Rep. When my children were young and in order to meet their needs, I ran a preschool for advanced learning. I currently run a tutoring centering, https://KidsWithAnEdge.com, for elementary and middle school children. I also specialize in Early Learning. Education is my passion. I have always tutored my own children. Two of my children qualified for HCC (the highly gifted program in Seattle Public Schools), one of whom just graduated with a 4.00 from high school and has been directly admitted to the UW Computer Science Program. My son is taking high school math as a 6th grader. I have tutored children of many different abilities. I have an adopted daughter who has special needs and bravely navigates the world with an IEP at school. I believe a child needs confidence in order to succeed. I like to work with children in a highly interactive manner, while presenting the material to them systematically. I want them to understand not only how, but why an algorithm works. I also like to teach them how to diagram problems and present their work on paper in order to minimize errors. Children's education is my honest passion. Over the years I have accumulated an arsenal of tools and method, allowing me to customize my teaching methods to each child's needs.
